Q: Not only are you beautiful, you're smart but I've got a big question for you. I'm a "working girl" myself and crank in about $200k/year but I'm lacking any sort of spirituality. I look at those crazy born again Christian T.V spots and laugh, but need something of the sort. What's the deal? Do you have any advise for a girl that has two kids but needs a spiritual outlet? I know what's goin' on. I too was married twice - once to a CTO and once to a Lawyer. HELP!
Signed,
Cool, but made the wrong choices
A: Dear Cool,
Spirituality is as individual as maxi-pad choices. For some it's
Christianity, for others it's fly fishing. I believe that spirituality is
being in touch with that part of you which wants to make the world a better
place. It's taking each experience as a lesson to help you get back on that
path. For me, it's manifestation has changed over the years. During my hippy
period I was going for the big one - world peace. Later on I taught English
to foreign students and placed them with American families - bonding two
cultures. When my kids were little (and now, even though they're old
children) it's about raising capable, loving, giving human beings that will
in turn give back to the world. (Looks like three out of four of my kids are
headed that way, but I got one that really still just lives for personal
pleasure! Man, I sure hope he's using condoms!) When Caryl and I created
"The Mommies" our goal was to help women see they're not alone.
The fact that you mention how much money you make as the first part of
your description says to me you do need a place to put your spirit. I get in
touch with "the big picture" by walking every day. I always walk alone and I
make it long enough for my brain to spew out the bull so I can get to the
real stuff. The size of anyone's income is bull, the two kids you're
raising is the real stuff.
I don't know if walking will do for you what it does for me, but keep
searching...it's out there (or in there). Once you put it into writing like
you just did, you've now put it out into the universe. Just keep your eyes
open, spirituality is coming your way. Grab on.
Yours in walking the path,
Marilyn
